The Departure

Dashon Goldson #38 Intercepting the ball
The former 49ers 2012 first-team All-Pro saftey Dashon Goldson has signed a five-year deal $41.25M contract with Tampa Bay.Known as a hard-hitting enforcer in the 49ers' secondary, Goldson also has the gift for the turnover. Intercepting 14 passes over the past four seasons. He has a career total of 346 tackles, 14 interceptions, 3 sacks, and 5 forced fumbles. In 2012, after having been franchised tagged by the niners, Goldson was part of a pass defense that ranked fourth overall in the NFL. Allowing only 200.2 passing yards per game. The 49ers also ranked first in the league by allowing 10.31 passing yards per completion and second with 5.13 passing yards allowed per attempt.

Saftey-Craig Dahl #43

The Replacement
Goldson's departure puts a huge weakness in the 49ers secondary. Though as of now the niners have signed saftey Craig Dahl for a contract of 3 years/$5.21million to hopefully fill the hole left by goldson. Dahl said, his visit to San Francisco was so positive he wanted to sign as soon as he could "to get things rolling." He is eager to play in a secondary with hard-hitting saftey Donte Whitner.
